Family News

This post is just an update on what has been happening in our family.

Bill continues to work loooong hours at The Original Mattress Factory. He recieved a promation in April and is now a production supervisor. He is enjoying "being in charge" of the day to day operations in the factory. He continues to enjoy landscaping, but has been too tired to do anything-those 50-60 hour work weeks will get you everytime.

Shelly is enjoying having a little bit of free time now that Jared and Allison are in school. She is trying to get Jordan on a napping schedule, so she can get things done around the house.

Jared is starting to adjust to 1st grade and riding the bus to school. There have been several mornings that he has told us through the tears"I don't want to go to school", but we remind him that this is his job and he needs to do it with a happy heart. Please pray for him, getting up at 6:15 to get on the bus at 7:00 has not been easy for him. He is very much like his mother-not a morning person.

Allison looooooves Kindergarten. Everyday she runs to the bus and can't wait to get to school. We are thankful that she is adjusting so well.

Jordan is enjoying the personal attention from Mommy in the afternoon while Jared and Allison are at school. He is so close to walking, but is under strict instructions from Grandma Lemponen not to do it until they come down in 2 weeks for his birthday. Sorry, Grandma but I don't think we will be able to hold him back. He has taken a few unaided steps to Bill, but nothing major yet.

Allison's 1st Day of Kindergarten

Allison started Kindergarten today!! I was all prepared with my "you will do great honey" "Mommy will see you soon" and "It's OK to be scared" speeches, but as you will soon see I did not need them. Allison told me that she could walk in all by herself, but I drew the line there, she was not going to take away this special moment from me. We made it to her class, she hung up her backpack and bolted into the classroom. She found her name tag, put it on and was ready to tackle Kindergarten. I was able to get a quick hug and kiss before she told me"it's OK, Mom you can leave". I left, only to remember that I had forgot to tell Allison's teacher about her batteries for her implant, I went back into the room, only to be greeted with this wonderful phrase from Allison, "I thought you had left Mom". I guess I don't have to worry about separation anxiety-at least not on Allison's part, Mom on the other hand is another story.

Jared's 1st Day of School

Today was Jared's 1st day of 1st Grade. Jared did great, it was mom that had the problem. I was able to walk Jared into school only to be told that I did not need to walk him to his classroom- I guess he does not need his mom as much as I thought he did(sniff, sniff)

Tomorrow, I get to do it all over again with Allison when she starts Kindergarten. At least I still have Jordan at home, he promised that he would not grow up too fast. :-)

Summer Fun

Our church had a community picnic on Saturday. Jared and Allison had a blast and it was such a beautiful day. There were several blowups for the kids to play in. There was one that was an obstacle course. Our tomboy(or as Allison likes to say "tomgirl") beat Jared every time they raced. Girl Power rules!!!
What a way to end the summer.
